BOTOX®
Injections
BOTOX® injections are a fast, safe,
and simple non-surgical approach in temporarily treating and
eliminating facial wrinkles in the forehead, frown lines
(between the brows) and for the "crows feet" or eye area
(upper third of the face). The BOTOX® does not hurt. BOTOX®
injections are also used for excess sweating or
hyperhydrosis. Except for the infrequent small bruise,
there is no downtime BOTOX® - you can
immediately return to your daily activity.
BOTOX® is approved by the FDA for temporary improvement in
the appearance of moderate to severe frown lines between the
brows in patients 18-65 years old. BOTOX® is the only
treatment of its type approved by the FDA for this purpose
According to The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic
Surgery an estimated 3 million people were treated with
BOTOX® in 2004 alone.
BOTOX® works by weakening the muscles in the face.
Once the resting tone of the treated muscles is weakened,
the pull of the muscles relaxes and the overlying skin
flattens thereby temporarily eliminating wrinkles and facial
lines.
BOTOX® has been safely used in the treatment of muscular
facial spasms for over fifteen years. Re-injection is
necessary within 3-4 months. There are no known generalized
side effects to BOTOX®.
The treatment takes less than ten minutes. The nonsurgical
procedure is simple. A few small injections can make a
significant improvement in the lines between the brows,
forehead or crows feet. Typical results can last up to 4
months.
BOTOX® treatments are offered daily at
the Board Certified Plastic Surgeon's Manhattan, New York
office.
